Black Moon to be seen in USA on July 31

You might have heard about the blue moon but will not have heard of Black Moon. Today, on 31 July, this astronomical event will be seen in North America. However, the rest of the world will have to wait until August 30. This astronomical event occured for the last time in 2016. Know what it means and why it is important.

The black moon is a occurrence within a month in which the moon is completely absorbed into the sky and is not visible. This is called the second new moon which is not visible due to being completely black. This astronomical event rarely occurs. In it the Moon is present between the Earth and the Sun, and the Sun’s light falls on the back of the Moon. According to astronomers, this works like a leap year.

It usually takes about 29 days for the Moon to complete its cycle. But because of the long month, we sometimes see two whole moons and two new moons in 32 months. In one month, the second full moon is called the blue moon, while the other new moon is called the black moon.

Generally, such a celestial phenomenon is possible only in February as the day is the lowest in this month and it happens once in a decade. In this, due to the Earth’s proximity, the moon is bigger than normal. It can be called Black Super New Moon.
