Nokia releases timeline for Google 10 update on its phones
HMD Global has released its Nokia phones portfolio shortly after the announcement of Android 10, the official name of Google’s Android Q. Those Nokia phones which will get the next major Android operating system update have been revealed. HMD Chief Juho Sarvikas has tweeted that the roll-out of Android 10 in Nokia smartphones will begin in 2019 Q4. Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 9 PureView will get an update first. This update will be available from October to December this year. The company’s plan is that by 2020 Q2 all Nokia smartphones get Android 10 update.
When will you get the update? Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 7 Plus will get Android 10 update in Q1 of 2020 after Nokia 7.1, 8.1 and 9 PureView. Just after that, the roll-out of Android 10 will be done in Nokia 2.2, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2. After this, Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco will get Android 10 update by the end of Q1 of 2020.
According to HMD’s plan, Android 10 will be updated to Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 1 in Q2 2020. Aall the phones in the list of phones getting Android 10 update of Nokia were launched in 2018 and are the models launched this year. 2017 models such as – Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 will get updates up to Android Pie operating system. Nevertheless, these phones will be provided with quality security patches till October 2020.

HMD Global is one of the few brands that has provided an upgrade of Android 9 Pie to their entire portfolio of smartphones. The company is now planning to make Android 10 upgrade available to the entire lineup of its Nokia phones. Most Nokia smartphones launched in 2018 will get Android 10 update. The company announced this after Google revealed that Android Q will now be known as Android 10.
