Before the increase in prices due to rain, onion made the common consumer of the country cry, but now it is the turn of tomato. In the last one week, the price of tomato has increased by 70 percent in the country’s capital Delhi. People are upset in this festive season due to tomatoes sky rocketing price Due to heavy rains in the states of South India, including Maharashtra and Karnataka, due to the onion supply being interrupted, its prices increased drastically in the past, but now this effect is visible on tomato as well. Tomato in Delhi-NCR has started selling for 40-60 rupees in retail since last few days and prices are expected to increase further in the coming days.

Not only Delhi, there has been a huge increase in the price of tomato in the entire country. According to the website of the Central Consumer Affairs Department, the price of onion in Chandigarh was Rs 52 per kg on Wednesday.

In Haryana, tomato preparation season is April-May. Apart from Karnataka and Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh also has tomato crop at this time, but the crop is getting spoiled due to rain there too. According to traders, the arrival of tomato can increase in the days after water is released from the fields. In such a situation, tomato prices may increase further in the coming days due to increasing demand during the festive season.
