Retreating Monsoon wrecks havoc in many parts of India

The retreating monsoon across the country is creating havoc. Flood-like conditions persist in many areas of UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Heavy rains have continued in these states for the last three days. Due to this, more than 80 people have lost their lives so far.
Generally September is the last week before the retrieval of the monsoon. For the first time in 60 years, this year the monsoon retrieval is expected to be delayed by 15 days. According to the Meteorological Department, this time the monsoon may continue till October 15. This is the first time since 1960, when the monsoon will bid adieu with such a delay.

The average rainfall in the country is about 869 mm. However, so far 931.6 mm of rain has been received. This means that the country has received seven percent more rainfall than usual. According to the Meteorological Department, 16 states of the country have received normal while eight states have received less than average rainfall.

Bihar rain affect: 15 districts on red alert, 13 trains canceled

Bihar is suffering from rains. After heavy rains, water has been flooded from the roads to the houses. In many places there is also water accumulation on the rail tracks. Flood-like conditions have occurred in the capital Patna. At the same time, even the wards and ICU at Nalanda Medical College have been flooded.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in 15 districts of the state regarding heavy rains in the next one or two days. In view of the possibility of heavy rains, the Nitish government has closed schools in most districts including Patna and Bhagalpur.

More than 13 trains have been affected due to flooding of railway tracks at Patna Junction. According to information received from the railway, six trains were canceled, while the route of five other trains was changed.

The Meteorological Department has said in its forecast that most areas of Bihar will be cloudy for the next one or two days and heavy rains are expected in many areas.

Continuous rains occured in many districts of Bihar. It is raining in several other districts including Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Jamui, Aurangabad, Darbhanga, Purnia, Betia, Jehanabad, including Patna and Bhagalpur. On the instructions of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the District Magistrates of many districts have declared leave in schools for the next two days.

The incessant heavy rains in Bihar since Friday have affected normal life in many parts of the state and this has affected rail traffic, health facilities and schools. The private houses of Patna city Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, the residence of Road Construction Minister Nandkishore Yadav, BJP MP Rajeev Pratap Rudy, looked like a deserted island.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in the city till 30 September. Patna district administration has ordered all schools to be closed till Tuesday. There was waterlogging in the premises of Nalanda Medical College Hospital and Gardnibagh Hospital.

Accidents due to incessant rains also claimed 30 lives in the state on Saturday. Thousands of houses were destroyed.  More than a thousand houses collapsed in Awadh alone. Here 12 people died in different accidents.

The Meteorological Department in Uttar Pradesh has predicted heavy rainfall at different places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. According to the statement issued by the government, many people have died due to falling house, falling trees and snake bite due to rain. The statement said that five people were also injured in rain-related accidents.

In Chandauli district, the running of trains on the PDDU-Patna rail route is disrupting the running of trains. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Patna rail route was disrupted due to flooding of tracks. Due to this, many trains stood at the local station for hours on Saturday. In view of the rain, the trains on Patna route were run from Gaya route.

At the same time, four trains running from Patna were canceled. This caused problems for the passengers. Due to the rains, 4 including three women died in Bundelkhand-Kanpur. More than five dozen houses collapsed.

Friday’s rain in Kanpur broke an 11-year record. According to the data released from the Meteorological Department, 90 mm of rain has been recorded from early morning till late evening on 27 September. This season is also the first time in one day so much rain fell. On 27 September 2018, only 5.8 mm of rain was received.


Uttarakhand: Heavy rain alert in eight districts

The rainy season continues in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in eight districts of Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts of the state.

Since Saturday morning, rain has continued in Dehradun, while the mountainous areas are also cloudy. According to Vikram Singh, director of the State Meteorological Center, the situation will continue till the first week of October. At the same time, Badrinath highway has also been closed due to debris.

The road has been closed due to debris on the Thal-Munsyari road. On Friday, the movement of vehicles remained smooth for a few hours. At one o’clock in the day, a huge amount of boulders came down the road again. Due to this, the operation of vehicles came to a standstill. Due to the closure of the road, there were long queues of vehicles on both sides. About one hundred meters of the new settlement remains sensitive. At the same time, the road was still closed on Saturday.

The Badrinath highway was blocked by a landslide at Lambagad on Saturday. Due to this, around 3900 pilgrims are stranded. The landslide at Lambagad on the Badrinath highway has again made it difficult on Saturday.

During the rain at two o’clock in the afternoon, a huge amount of debris and boulders from the rock suddenly hit the highway. Police personnel deployed on the spot immediately halted the movement of traveling vehicles on both sides of the highway. During this period, 3000 pilgrims returning from Badrinath were stopped at the dham itself.

Heavy rains will continue in Himachal, snowfall on the peaks

Heavy rain and snowfall occurred in many areas of Himachal on Saturday. Clouds lashed many areas, including the capital Shimla. Amid warning of heavy rains, the maximum temperature in the state was reduced by four to five degrees on Saturday. Due to this change in the weather, many areas of the state have been completely vulnerable to cold. Ripe maize crop in the plains has suffered a lot due to rain.
