12 trains to be cancelled from Oct 13-22 due to expansion works

After doubling the doubling work between Haridwar-Luxar twice, finally the railway headquarters has approved the doubling work for the third time from October 13 to 22. Meanwhile, 12 trains going to and from Dehradun will be canceled, while four trains will travel to and from the middle station. At the same time, four trains going to Dehradun in the early morning and late night will continue to go to Dehradun, but the Railway Board kept the passengers traveling from Dehradun in a state of confusion till the last time. If the passengers were informed of the block at the right time, the passengers would have an alternate option ready for their journey. This step taken by the Railways in a hurry must have hurt the trust between the passenger and the rail.

Doubling is to be done at five stations between Haridwar and Luxar. For which Moradabad Division had sent a proposal to do doubling work first from October 9, then October 11 and after that from October 13, between Haridwar and Luxar, on which the Railway Headquarters has approved the doubling work from October 13. Due to this, passengers going to and from Dehradun via train from October 13 to 22 will have to face a lot of trouble. However, if the block had been reported in time, then the passenger’s trouble could have been reduced, but the passengers were kept confused by the railway authorities till the last moment. Now passengers going from Dehradun to Gorakhpur and Muzaffarpur will have to catch a train from Najibabad, while passengers going from Dehradun to Howrah will have to catch a train from Bareilly. At the same time, passengers going from Dehradun to Madurai will have to catch a train from Nizamuddin station, Delhi.

Dehradun station director Ganosh Chand Thakur said that the railway headquarters has given approval from October 13 to 22 to complete the doubling work between Haridwar-Luxar. Due to which 12 trains going to and from Dehradun will be canceled. Passengers who have booked tickets on cancellation dates will be given a refund through the same channel. The trains which come and go in the early hours of the night, will continue to come to Dehradun.

Divisional Railway Manager Moradabad Tarun Prakash said that the Dehradun platform expansion work will start in the coming November, which will be completed in 90 days. Speaking to reporters at School Valley Ground, DRM Tarun Prakash said that the work of laying the Luxar-Haridwar double lane is being done, in which the Haridwar-Dehradun double lane will be started in the second phase. He said that MDDA and Railways are jointly doing Dehradun railway station beautification work.

New Rishikesh railway station construction work is going on in the final stages. The construction till Karnprayag is estimated to be completed by 2022. DRM Tarun Prakash informed that special trains will be operated during the festive season for the convenience of passengers. Regarding the illegal occupations on the grounds of Oakgrove School, the DRM said that a departmental inquiry is being conducted. He said that Oakgrove School is the old heritage school of Northern Railway, whose efforts are being made for structural development.
