The famous Naini Lake drainiage system was built near the Tallital Post Office in the British period. When the lake was filled, water was drained through mechanical wheels by personnel lifting or dropping gates. Due to the system being too old, there was a problem in the regulation of the gate. In the first week of July, DM Savin Bansal met with the irrigation department to review the process related to the water level control and discharge of the lake. After which a proposal for the construction of new gates on the lake was prepared and sent to the government. Now the government has released 78 lakhs for this. The tender process has been started. After the automatic gate is built, the data related to the water level and discharge of the lake will be displayed.

CCTV cameras will be installed to monitor drains

DM Savin Bansal informed that CCTV cameras will be installed to monitor the drains falling in the lake. For this, DM has released an amount of 15 lakhs from his discretionary fund. The flow of water is affected as the lake gets polluted by dumping garbage and waste of building material in the drains. Surveillance with CCTV cameras is necessary to prevent waste. CCTV cameras will be installed in sewer number one, 20 and 21 and 23. For whose online monitoring, control rooms will be set up in the Collectorate’s Emergency Operations Center and the Control Room of the Irrigation Department.
