DA of central government employees and pensioners hiked by 5 percent

The Modi government has given Diwali gifts to its government employees and pensioners. The government has decided to increase the dearness allowance by 5 percent on Wednesday. This will benefit 50 lakh employees. These increased rates will be applicable from July this year. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has informed after the cabinet meeting that the government has decided to increase the DA from 12 percent to 17 percent. This decision has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This decision of the central government will benefit 50 lakh government employees as well as 65 lakh pensioners. However, this decision will put an additional burden of Rs.16,000 crore on the government exchequer, which will further increase the headache of the government amid growing revenue deficit.

Describing another important announcement, Union Minister Javadekar said that the government has increased the honorarium of Asha workers from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. The Union Minister said that the cabinet has taken another important decision. Under this, Aadhaar seeding can now be done by November 30 to get benefits under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi.

According to Javadekar this is the highest increase in DA at one time. He said, “For the first time it has happened that the central government has increased the DA by five percent at a time.” , Which has now been decided by the Modi government to increase 5 percent. The minister said that this decision will bring happiness to the government employees before Diwali. Diwali will be celebrated on 27th of October this year.
