Zverev, Tsitsipas take out Federer and Djokovic at Shanghai Masters

Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas took out Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic respectively in their quarter final clash against the tennis legends. The ‘Next Gen’ stars took out the top two seeds at the penultimate Masters 1000 of the year. The 21 year old Tsitsipas has entered an elite club of players boasting to have beating each of the members of the big-3 in the same calendar year.

Tsitsipas defeats Djokovic for the second time

Now Stefanos Tsitsipas will face 23-year-old Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals on Saturday. Seventh-ranked Tsitsipas bounced back after losing the first set and defeated the defending champion 3-6 7-5 6-3. The Greek has won twice in the last three matches against the top-ranked Serbian player. After trailing in the first set, Tsitsipas competed in the second set and won the set in a tie-break. He then won 6-3 in the last set. The 32-year-old Djokovic said that he has fully recovered from his shoulder injury. He won the Tokyo Open last month.

Daniil Medvedev beats Fognini

Medvedev defeated Fabio Fognini 6-3 7-6 to enter the semi-finals. He Defeated Fogini and hit 12 aces. Medvedev said that he does not know how his service was crashing. Djokovic recently praised Medavdev and described him as a very complete player. US Open champion Rafael Nadal is not playing in Shanghai due to a wrist injury.
