Earthquake on India-Nepal border; shock waves felt across North India

The tremors of an Earthquake that struck on India-Nepal border were felt in North India including Delhi-NCR at around 7:30 pm on Tuesday evening. Apart from Delhi-NCR, tremors have been felt in many other cities of North India including Lucknow, Noida, Gurugram, Chandigarh. The epicenter of the earthquake was on the Indo-Nepal border. The intensity of the earthquake measured 5.3 on the Richter scale.

According to the USGS, the US body that informed the earthquake, the epicenter was near Nepal’s Khapatad National Park and its depth was 1.3 kilometers below the Earth. It is located close to the Himalayas, where low-intensity earthquakes usually occur.

The impact of the earthquake on the Nepal border was also seen in Uttarakhand. Mild tremors were also felt in many districts here. This caused panic among the people. No damage has been reported from anywhere in the state.

Tremors were felt in some districts of Kumaon and Garhwal in Uttarakhand including Delhi NCR due to the earthquake in Nepal border. In Kumaon, for the second time in eight days, earthquake tremors caused people to panic. Light tremors were felt at many places in Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Bageshwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Its center was in Nepal. Its depth was 10 kilometers from the surface of the ground. On Tuesday evening, the earthquake, which occurred at seven o’clock one minute, made people run out of houses in Pithoragarh district and Dharchula. The areas bordering the earthquake had a greater impact.

On Monday, earthquake tremors were felt in some districts of Gujarat. The earthquake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale of this earthquake. Its earthquake center was near Bhachau. However, no casualty was reported in this earthquake. Earlier Pakistan’s PoK had a major earthquake that killed 27 people and damaged a large number of roads and broke down people’s homes.

The 2015 Nepal earthquake caused massive destruction. Eight thousand people died due to this earthquake. Nepal’s earthquake caused a lot of damage to people’s homes, temples.

At present, there is no news of any loss of life or property. The intensity of the earthquake was felt more in areas of Uttar Pradesh. The earthquake shook Uttarakhand too. Panic spread to people after feeling the shock of the earthquake. People moved out of their homes. Even the goods kept in the houses started shaking.
