Tsitsipas to face Thiem in finals of ATP World Tour Finals

Greek star tennis player Stephanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4 knocked out 6 time champion Roger Federer in the semi finals of the season ending World Tour Finals. With this victory, Tsitsipas confirmed his place in the finals of the ATP Finals tournament.

Earlier on Thursday, Federer defeated Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-3 to reach the semifinal of the ATP Finals for the 16th time. In the opening round of the tournament Federer lost against Dominic Thiem of Austria.

At the same time, Stephanos Tsitsipas suffered a defeat against world number one Rafael Nadal on Friday. Nadal defeated Tsitsisipas 6-7, 6-4, 7-5. The 21 year old Greek leveled his head to head against the Swiss legend to 2-2. The pair had met for the first time at this year’s Australian Open with Tsitsipas emerging the winner in 4 sets. In that match Federer failed to convert any of the 12 break point opportunities he got in the match. In yesterday’s match as well,the 20 time Grand Slam champion could just break his younger opponent’s serve just once in 12 attempts.

Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem has continued his tremendous performance even at the end of the season. In the semi-finals of the ATP Finals, Thiem reached the final of the tournament after defeating Germany’s defending champion Alexander Zverev 7-5, 6-3. Earlier Thiem had defeated Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer top the group in the round robin format.
