Tsitsipas youngest ATP World Tour Final winner in last 18 years

Stefanos Tsitsipas, capped a stellar 2019 with the biggest title of his career on Sunday. He made several records with the title win of ATP Finals 2019 over Dominic Thiem. He won this title at the age of just 21 years and three months. With this, he also became the youngest player to become ATP World Tour Finals champion in 18 years. Before him, this record was in the name of Lleyton Hewitt of Australia. Hewitt won the title in 2001 at the age of 20.

Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece defeated Dominic Thiem of Austria in the final played in London on Sunday. He won this title 6-7 (6), 6-2, 7-6 (4). Tsitsipas is also the first Greek player to win the title of ATP Finals. Stefanos Tsitsipas was in pain during the final match. His muscles were aching. But in spite of this, he continued the game and also became the champion. He got around 19 crore rupees and 1300 ATP points from this win.

Defeated Federer in the semi-finals

Tsitsipas appeared in excellent form throughout this tournament. He defeated six time champion Roger Federer in the semi-finals. Sitsipas had earlier defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the first match of the group round and Alexander Zverev in the second match. Alexander Zverev won this title last year. But this time he lost to Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals. Stefanos Tsitsipas lost just one match in this tournament. He was defeated by Rafael Nadal in the last match of the group round.

Defeated each of the Big 3 in 2019

The 21 year old Greek sensation had a breakout year in 2019 which began with a 4 set win over Roger Federer at the Australian Open. He then went on to defeat King of Clay Rafael Nadal in his own backyard in Madrid. The youngster then defeated Djokovic at the Shanghai Masters to defeat each of the member of the big 3 atleast once in the same calendar year.
