Iran admits to shooting down Ukraine airlines plane by mistake

Iran has admitted to accidentally shooting down the plane that crashed in Tehran. Iran said that this has happened due to human error. 176 people died in this accident on 8 January. After the accident, the US claimed that Iran was the one who shot down the plane. However, Iran categorically denied the attack on the plane. The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Parliament said that Tehran should learn a lesson from the Ukraine plane crash.

President of Ukraine asks for compensation

The President of Ukraine said that we want complete investigation and compensation from Iran in this matter. Zelensky said that Iran has claimed blame for crashing Ukrainian aircraft. So we want compensation.

President Hassan Rouhani admits human error

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that an internal investigation by the Armed Forces concluded that the missile crashed into the plane. President Rouhani apologized for the accident. He further said that Ukraine’s plane is a big tragedy and unforgivable mistake.

After the meeting of Iran’s Civil Aviation Department, it was already hoped that such an announcement could be made. Now the Iran administration has issued a statement saying that Ukraine’s aircraft had come under target due to human error.

Earlier the Foreign Minister of Ukraine said that it is too early to reach any conclusion regarding how the plane got affected. Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737 crashed in the vicinity of Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport shortly after takeoff. All 176 people were killed, including civilians from Iran, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Canada, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Ever since the accident, it is being speculated in the American media that Iran may have shot down the plane. At the same time, Iran had assured all possible help in the investigation of the accident. However, after the accident, the pictures of the debris which came out of the site raised concerns that important evidence could be erased.
