Massive traffic jams stall Delhi on New Year

The capital of the country came to a standstill on Wednesday evening from the crowd of people who came out to celebrate the New Year. Heavy queues of vehicles were seen on the roads due to heavy traffic jam at Rail Bhawan, Parliament House, PTI, Jantar Mantar, Mandi House, Press Club in Delhi. The nearest metro stations were also closed in view of the one lakh people gathered at India Gate, which were later opened. To remove the vehicles stuck in the jam, the police started announcing the loudspeaker and emptying India Gate.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has closed the entry and exit gates of India Gate, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhavan, Pragati Maidan, Khan Market and Mandi House. However, passengers have been given the facility of interchange at the Central Secretariat and Mandi House.

On the occasion of New Year, people are celebrating by going out of their homes. Due to this, conditions of heavy jam were created in many places. Meanwhile, there was a long traffic jam on the Barapula flyover.

The traffic on Mathura Road from W-Point to DPS is heavy due to the gathering of visitors at Chidiya Ghar (Zoo). At the same time, Jai Singh Road is closed from both sides for the traffic movement. Traffic has stopped on Jai Singh Road from Ashok Road due to a large amount of vehicles. The traffic police did traffic diversion in many areas, but to no avail.
