‘Flat Earth’ believer dies in rocket explosion

American daredevil and amateur rocket builder Mike Hughes died in California. Hughes flew into the sky on Saturday with a rocket made by himself. But as soon as his rocket went up, it exploded and all its debris spread below. He was also known as ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes.

Science channel has given information about this incident on social networking site Twitter. Twitter wrote, “Hughes always wanted to launch in space.” Hughes was also a limousine driver with a Guinness World Record for ‘Longest Limousine Ramp Jump’. In 2002, he jumped his limousine car from a height of 103 feet (31 meters).

A video shows that as the rocket rises up its parachute explodes. The steam-flying rocket must have gone up but it fell to the ground in just 10 seconds. In the video, a strange sound can be heard from a rocket falling in the desert. Eyewitnesses say that the rocket crashed into a lower surface during launch, causing a crack in its parachute. This is the biggest reason for the accident.

This was not the first time Hughes had embarked on a space trip. In 2018, he flew 1875 feet (570 meters) in the air. He had put two parachutes in his rocket, but there was a disturbance while coming down and his neck suffered severe injuries in the accident. His rocket then fell into the Mojave Desert in California. Hughes knew that his life was threatened by such a launch, but despite this he continued his experiment.

According to news agency AP, Hughes who was a believer in Flat Earth had said in a video that he wanted to go to the end of outer space to find out if the world was round. Hughes had said in a video message that he wants to convince people that they can do everything that is extraordinary in their lives. Hughes said to the AP, “My story is really beyond belief.”
