Government plans GST based lottery reward scheme
Companies often offer you a reward for shopping. But this time the central government has brought a unique scheme for the consumers. Through this you can win from 10 lakh to 1 crore rupees. All you have to do is that whenever you buy some goods, you must take the GST bill.
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) lottery scheme will be introduced soon. The disclosure was made as part of a program on Tuesday by John Joseph, a member of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). He informed that there will be a chance to win the lottery on every GST bill. This new initiative will also encourage customers to pay tax.
At an ASSOCHAM event, Joseph said, ‘We have come up with a new lottery system. This lottery can be won on every GST bill. Its draw will be conducted. The value of the lottery is so high that the customer will say that by paying upto 28% tax, I will have a chance to win Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore. It is a question of changing the habit of the customer.
Bill has to be uploaded on the portal
Under this scheme GST bill has to be uploaded on the portal. After this there will be a draw under the computer system. The winners will then be notified.
GST Council will review
The GST Council headed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will review this lottery scheme. During this time the minimum bill will be fixed and the winners will be given prizes from the Consumer Welfare Fund.
