Aarogya Setu app adds new feature to show other users coming in proximity

The government has added a new feature on the Aarogya Setu app, brought for the prevention of coronavirus. This will give people an extra security layer to fight Corona. The government has given this information in a tweet.

According to the new security feature, now people will be able to know such people who have come very close to them with the help of Bluetooth. Aarogya Setu has tweeted that it will give people a sense of their risk. From this, it will also be known who has come to you in a short period of time. The Aarogya Setu App has been downloaded more than 120 million times in India since launch, and is still continuing to grow in number. This new feature will let you know if there was a COVID-19 infected person in your vicinity via a Bluetooth connection.

The app has to be updated for this feature. By clicking on the Aarogya Setu, the number of people with whom you have been in Bluetooth proximity will be known. You can also see their status here, you also get permission to upload your data through it.

This Tweet further states, “If your situation is rated as Moderate Risk or High Risk. This means if your screen is yellow or orange, Aarogya Setu will give you information about the date, time and approximate location and duration of BT contacts that have been diagnosed as COVID positive. This will enable you to assess your risk. Some BT contacts may be of short duration during travel, some may occur when you have masks without any physical contact. It is important to always take the necessary precautions and monitor your symptoms. “
