U-19 World Cup Semi-Final: India beat Pakistan by 10 wickets

India defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup being played at Potchefstroom thanks to a brilliant unbeaten century by opener batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and half-century from Divyansh Saxena. With this victory, India has made it to the finals. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena trounced Pakistan by playing an unbeaten 105 and 59 runs inning respectively. The Indian team had a target of 173 runs, which the team achieved in 35.2 overs without losing any wickets.

Pakistan’s bowlers looked cluless

Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena took Pakistan’s bowlers to the cleaners. Yashasvi scored an unbeaten 105-run knock with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes. Divyansh Saxena strongly supported him. Divyansh scored an unbeaten 59 from 99 balls. Pakistan’s bowlers looked clueless while bowling to the Indian openers.

Earlier, Indian bowlers restricted Pakistan to 172 runs. Only three Pakistan batsmen could touch the double figures. Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. However, Pakistani batsmen could not stay long in front of Indian bowlers. Mohammed Huraira (4), who scored a half-century in the previous match fell when the team had scored nine runs, and Fahd Munir (0) returned to the pavilion on a total score of 34.

Second opener Hyder Ali and captain Rohail Nazir tried to handle the team while playing half-century innings. Both shared a 62-run partnership for the third wicket. Hyder, who scored 56 runs from 77 balls with the help of nine fours, was dismissed on a total score of 96 and with this the series of Pakistan’s wickets started. The captain was dismissed as the eighth wicket of the team at a total score of 169. He scored 62 runs in his innings facing 102 balls. His innings included six fours.

In the end, Mohammed Haris tried to cross the team’s lead by scoring 21 runs but could not go much further. Sushant Mishra took three wickets for the Indian Under-19 team. Karthik Tyagi and Ravi Bishnoi got two wickets each. Atharva Ankolekar and Yashasvi Jaiswal were also successful in taking one wicket each.

With this win defending champions India marched into their third successive final of the U-19 world cup.
