7.5 lakh people to be screened in Dharavi to contain Covid-19 outbreak

Corona is at the peak of its economic capital Mumbai. Mumbai has become the biggest Corona hotspot in the country. The situation has become worrisome after 224 cases and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours have been reported in Maharastra.

Officials are in full action mode after receiving 28 patients and three deaths in Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi which is one of the world’s most densely populated areas. There is a fear that if the virus becomes more aggressive, the whole of Mumbai will be caught in its grip. According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Municipality (BMC) and the Health Department, more than 100 patients have been reported daily in Mumbai for the past two days. This virus outbreak is an indicator of rapid growth.

Hopefully this will reduce in the coming time. At the same time, some officials believe that the next five days are important for the whole of Mumbai. It is expected that 200 to 300 cases will be reported daily in the next five-six days. If the same situation persists for ten consecutive days, then there could be conditions like Italy and New York in Mumbai.

More than 1500 tests taking place daily

BMC is conducting more than 1500 tessts daily. Similarly, a total of 1930 people have been booked for violating the lockdown. All these people were driving on the road without work.

Seven and a half lakh people to be screened in Dharavi

A team of 150 doctors will start the screening mission Dharavi. Over seven and a half lakh people living in Dharavi will be screened in 10-12 days. At the same time, with the help of drones, efforts will be made to sanitize Dharavi.
