Lockdown restrictions lifted in New Zealand after 51 days

No new cases of corona virus have been reported in New Zealand for the third consecutive day on Thursday. Earlier, the lockdown, which was in place in the country for 51 days ended at midnight on Wednesday. After which people reached hair salons in many cities including Wellington, Christchurch.

The government has urged people that malls, shops and restaurants are being opened in the country but they have to follow social distance. A ban has been imposed on the gathering of more than 10 people at one place. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that the country is facing one of the most challenging economic conditions due to the virus.

Ardern said, “The winters in New Zealand are going to be very difficult, but after every winter, spring comes and if we take the right decision then we can take the citizens of the country back to work.” Our economy will pick up speed once again. New Zealand has been able to control the spread of corona to a great extent. There were 1497 cases of Covid-19 infection while 21 people died reported in the country.

Similarly, Australia’s second most populous state, Victoria, has announced loosening of restrictions on religious ceremonies and community games from Tuesday. At the same time, non-essential goods shops, factories and other businesses reopened in France from Monday after eight weeks.

Australia’s Victoria Province Premier Daniel Andrews said, “The waiver given does not necessarily mean that we are uncontrolled. We have to use our common sense. Classes were started in schools in the most populous New South Wales and Queensland from Monday.”
