Second phase of Vande Bharat Mission to start from May 16

The second phase of the Vande Bharat Mission, which was started from 7 May to bring back the stranded Indians due to Corona infection, will start from 16 May. According to sources, about 25 thousand Indians will be brought back from 31 countries in this phase and during this time around 149 flights will be operated by the government.

During the first phase of Vande Bharat Mission stranded Indians have been brought from 12 countries including USA, UAE, UK, Kwait, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Philippines, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The civil aviation ministry said in its press release that 31 flights were operated by Air India Express during the first phase for 5 days and that 6,037 Indians of the Vande Bharat Mission have been brought from overseas amidst the Corona lockdown. Since March 25 in India, there has been a lockdown due to corona infection. So far, the number of corona-infected in the country has crossed 70 thousand, while the death toll also crosses about 22 hundred.

Vande Bharat Mission: 331 Indians stranded in UK reach Hyderabad

As part of the Vande Bharat Mission’s mission to evacuate Indian nationals stranded overseas, an Air India aircraft carrying 331 people stranded in Britain arrived at the international airport here. Airport sources said that the Boeing 773 aircraft arrived at 2.21 A.M.

Later, the same plane went to America carrying 87 passengers going to Delhi. Passengers were transported from a completely sanitized international arrival point to the main passenger terminal.

All passengers and crew members of the aircraft were brought in batches of 20-25 people. According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, each passenger and each member of the crew were examined with a thermal camera mounted on the aerobridge exit before completing immigration formalities. After the health check-up of the passengers, CISF personnel wearing protective equipment took the group of passengers to the immigration counter. After arrival here, the passengers were taken to different places for a separate stay.
