After US now Brazil threatens to end ties with WHO

After the US, Brazil has also opened a front against the World Health Organization (WHO). Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, following in the footsteps of Donald Trump, has threatened to separate his country from the WHO on Friday.

Bolsonaro accused the WHO of favoritism and politics, saying, ‘America has shied away from the WHO and we are keeping an eye on it too. Now in the time to come, WHO should either act without any ideological malice or we will  separate from it. ‘

Bolsonaro clarified that it was no coincidence that the WHO changed decision to stop testing hydrochloroquine for treatment of Covid-19, just days after Trump’s decision to stop financial aid to the WHO.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Brazil has increased to 34,021, which is third in the world. According to the country’s Health Ministry, 1437 people have died in Brazil in the last 24 hours.
