Indian government could ban more Chinese apps

After 59 Chinese apps banned in India, the government is reportedly now preparing to ban some other 275 apps having links with China. The government is checking that if these apps are not posing a threat to national security and user privacy in any way. According to sources, the government is trying to stop apps first whose servers are in China.

According to sources, these 275 apps also include the gaming app PUBG, which is part of China’s valuable company Tencent. It also includes Xiaomi-made Zili app, e-commerce Alibaba’s Aliexpress app, Resso app and Bytedance’s ULike app. A person associated with this development said that the government can ban all these 275 apps, or some of these apps. However, if no flaw is found then no app will be banned.

Government is preparing to make rules

According to the report, the Indian government is now making rules for apps, which all have to be met for conducting business in India, and if it does not, then there will be a risk of getting banned. A senior official said that this is a big plan of the government, so that cyber security can be strengthened and the data of Indian citizens can be secured. In these rules and guidelines, an app will be told what to do and what not to do.

A few days ago, the Modi government banned 59 Chinese apps, including the most popular tiktok. Apart from this, they also had banned UCWeb and UC News of Alibaba. Also, popular apps like Share it and CamScanner were also present in the list of banned apps.
