Maruti Suzuki introduces subscription based car leasing services
The country’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India, has started the facility of leasing cars from Thursday. The company has introduced it under the brand name ‘Maruti Suzuki Subscribe’. In this facility, people can run the car for a fixed period without purchasing a car.
Facility will be available in these cities
Maruti said in a statement that initially based on the pilot project, it started this service in Gurugram and Bengaluru. Under this, it will provide Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga on rent through Maruti Suzuki Arena and Baleno, Ciaz and XL through Nexa showrooms.
This is the rule for leasing a car
A company provides a conditional vehicle to the customer for their personal use for a specified period. For this, the customer does not have to buy the car at full cost and the final ownership of the car also remains with the company. The customer simply has to pay the rent of the car for the duration of its use.
Agreement with Orix
For this service it has tied up with Orix Auto Infrastructure Service Limited. It is a subsidiary of Orix Corporation of Japan, which will operate the service in India. In order to increase car sales and attract more and more customers during the Covid-19 crisis, automobile companies are finding new ways.
Hyundai started similar service last year
Last year, Maruti’s rival Hyundai Motor India also started such a service. It was initially launched in partnership with Rev, a company providing vehicles for rental for own use in six cities.
Similarly, MG Motor is also providing its cars on rent in association with Myles, a company providing vehicles on rent for self-use. German car company Volkswagen has started plans to make all its BS-6 cars available on lease from May this year. Under this, customers can take a car for a minimum period of two to four years.
