South Africa also announces 21 day lockdown

South Africa has also announced a nationwide lockdown under military surveillance since Friday (March 27), after taking steps such as imposing lockdown and curfew on behalf of other African countries to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Around 5.7 crore people across the country will be forced to stay in their homes due to the lockdown that remains in force for the next three weeks from Friday (March 27). Some African countries such as Kenya, Rwanda and Mali have implemented restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

So far, 3,203 cases of infection have been reported in African countries, while 87 people have died. However, the number of infected is significantly lower in Africa than in West Asia and Europe.

Before deploying troops from the military base in Soweto city outside Johannesburg, President Cyril Ramaphosa said, “I am sending you so that you can go and protect our people from the coronavirus.”

More than 15 thousand deaths due to corona virus in Europe

At the same time, more than 15 thousand people have died in Europe due to the coron virus. A total of 15 thousand 500 deaths have occurred in Europe, including 8165 in Italy, 4089 in Spain and 1696 in France. The total number of infected people in Europe, the continent most affected by the Corona virus, is 2,68,191. The virus first appeared in China in December last year.

With no cure found yet for coronavirus covid-19, many countries including India have announced lockdowns to minimize community spread of the disease.
