29 percent Delhiites developed Covid-19 antibodies reveals second Sero survey

Coronavirus antibodies was found in about 29 per cent of the people i.e. about 60 lakh people in Delhi. This information has been revealed in the second sero-survey. This data indicates that the corona virus infection has been increasing at a slow rate in Delhi. According to the report, about 5 percent increase in antibodies has been recorded in a month. The first phase sero survey and the second phase sero survey revealed that most of the people who developed antibody were asymptomatic (no signs of corona virus).

Second sero survey took place between August 1 and August 7

A total of 15,000 samples were collected from August 1 to August 7 in the second sero survey. This information was given by Health Minister Satyendra Jain of Delhi. A new SOP was created by the Health Department of the Government of Delhi for this survey. Satyendra Jain said that 25% of those below 18 years, 50% between 18 and 49 years and 25% above 50 years have been sampled.

60 lakh people corona infected in Delhi

According to scientists, this second round suggests that about six million people in Delhi are affected by the coronavirus. But having antibodies in them means that he has recovered from corona virus and it is possible that this antibody will remain in his body for 4-8 months. According to the note issued by the Delhi government on the basis of the survey results, the median-age group is of 32 years old people. This survey was planned by Delhi Government with the technical support of Maulana Azad Medical College. The next phase of this survey is scheduled in the first weeks of September and October.

District wise difference in results

Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that we have found a lot of difference in its results at the district level. Districts like South-East have seen an increase of 50%.

Lowest prevalence in Southwest district

According to the survey results, the southeast district recorded the highest prevalence of 32.2%. It was spread at the rate of 31.6% in North District at number two. It was 31.4% in Central district, 29.9% in Shahdara, 29.6% in North East, 28.9% in East, 29.6% in North-West and 24.6% in New Delhi district. The lowest prevalence was found in Southwest district at 16.3%.

People in the first survey are not in the second survey

The Delhi government had ensured that those who were included in the first survey should not be repeated in the second survey. The rule of such survey is that people’s blood samples are taken with the written consent and IgG antibodies and infection are tested from their head through ELISA test kit.
