The compartment examinations for class 10th and 12th have been announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in September. CBSE board class 10 and 12 compartment examinations will be held from 22 to 29 September. Today, the board said that the candidates will apply hand sanitizer and wear face masks in view of COVID-19 pandemic. The compartment exam for both the classes will start from 22 September and will end on 29 September. According to the guidelines, in view of the corona pandemic safety, all candidates will carry their respective sanitizers in transparent bottles and (their own) water bottles and have to cover their mouth and nose.
CBSE exam controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said in the official notification mentioning the exam schedule. Earlier in the day, CBSE protested in the Supreme Court this month demanding the postponement of compartment examinations for class 12, stating that all necessary ‘safety measures’ for students should be taken in view of COVID-19 pandemic. The petition challenged the decision by CBSE to conduct the examination for class 12, saying that it would be detrimental to the health of the examinees in view of the increasing COVID-19 cases. The apex court will hear the case on 10 September.
At the same time, before the announcement, CBSE had told the Supreme Court that the facility of compartment examination will be given only to those students who have failed or are not happy with the result released under the assessment scheme. CBSE also informed that compartment examinations will be conducted keeping in mind the Corona Guidelines.
The board was told that if compartment examinations were not conducted, it would adversely affect the future of many students. The All India Students Association (AISA) had written a letter to Union Education Minister Nishank demanding that the examinations be canceled. It has been said by the student organization that how many students will be judged to have given such compartments without passing the exam number only.
