DGCA clarifies stance on inflight photography

The Civil Aviation Regulator (DGCA) issued a clarification on Sunday, stating that there is no restriction on passengers taking selfies or videography in flights. However, passengers cannot use any recording gadgets that cause any kind of interruption in flight. The statement issued by the DGCA said that while traveling in the aircraft, passengers can take video or photography during takeoff and landing.

The DGCA said in its order on Saturday, “It has been decided that from now on if there is any such violation (photography) in a predetermined passenger aircraft. So the flight on that route will be suspended for a period of two weeks from the next day. ” After this, the DGCA has issued an explanation on it today.

What is the matter?

On a flight of Indigo Airlines to Chandigarh-Mumbai with Kangana Ranaut onboard, some media persons violated safety and social distancing rules. DCGA then ordered Indigo to take appropriate action.

On September 9, a video of this flight also went viral on social media. It can be seen clearly that some reporters and cameraman were flouting norms for a reaction from Kangana Ranaut. During this time the rules of social distancing were not taken care of. Kangana was sitting in the first line of this plane.

Under which rule was the order given?

Saturday’s order was given under Rule 13 of Aircraft Rules 1937. Under this, no person can do photography in flight without permission from DGCA or Ministry of Civil Aviation. Under DGCN rules, the airline can put such passengers in the “no-fly list” for a short time.
