Superior quality 100 octane petrol now available in India

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Tuesday introduced the country’s first 100 octane petrol. With this, India also joined the select countries where such high quality fuel is available in the market. Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan introduced this fuel, saying that the XP100 premium petrol was initially available at select IOCs in 10 cities’ Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Agra, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad. He said that this fuel is produced at the IOC’s Mathura refinery in Uttar Pradesh and is supplied at select petrol pumps.

Pradhan said that Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) recently introduced Octane 99 and now IOC XP100 has come in the market. The minister said, “This is the proof of India’s technological progress and its construction in our refineries is a fine example of self-reliant India”.

What is the specialty of 100 octane petrol?

Octane ratings are the standard for fuel stability. This is the standard for fuel efficiency to avoid knocking. When fuel already ignites in the cylinder of the engine, it is called a knock. This reduces the impact and can cause engine damage. The higher the octane number, the more the petrol is able to stop the knock.

Was available in only six countries

100 octane petrol is an excellent market for luxury vehicles worldwide. It is available in only six countries: the United States, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Malaysia and Israel. Three types of octane petrol are available 87 (regular), 89 (mid-grade) and 91-94 (premium) at most retail stations.
