Bharat Biotech claims their vaccine effective against UK strain of Corona

Bharat-Biotech has claimed that Covaxin is also effective on the new UK strain of Corona. Earlier, the US pharmaceutical company Pfizer has also made a similar claim. Now Bharat Biotech has also said that its vaccine neutralizes the UK strain. This new strain of Corona pandemic has caused havoc. It has been reported to be 70 times more infectious than Wuhan strains. Bharat Biotech has tweeted – Covaxin effectively neutralizes the UK variants of Sars-CoV2.

Strengthens protection against mutant viruses

This claim of the company has been stated in the review of bioRxiv. bioRxiv is operated by New York’s Non-Profit Research Institute Cold Spring Harbor Lab. According to the report, the test of Covaxin was done on 26 people and it has been found that it is effective on UK strains. It is worth noting that it is the only indigenous vaccine in India. It has been prepared jointly by pharma company Bharat-Biotech and Indian Council of Medical Research.

This vaccine has been allowed emergency use approval. A few days ago, in a research published in the famous science journal Lancet, it was reported that this vaccine was shown to create anti-bodies against the corona in the first phase trial. Also, there were no major side effects. Covishield has also been allowed emergency use. Serum Institute of India was a partner in the vaccine project of Oxford University and AstraZeneca. Serum Institute has conducted trials of this vaccine in India. Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, has named this vaccine as Covishield.
