Ravindra Jadeja’s all round performance halts RCB’s winning streak

The 19th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Chennai won this match by 69 runs. Chasing a target of 192 runs, RCB scored 122 for nine in 20 overs. Jadeja performed all-round on behalf of Chennai. He also took three wickets for Bangalore with Not out scoring 62 runs. Earlier, Chennai batted first and scored 191 runs, losing four wickets in 20 overs. Harshal Patel took 3 wickets for RCB.

For RCB, the opening pair of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal came out to chase the target of 192 runs. But both of them returned to the pavilion in the powerplay itself. Devdutt Padikkal scored 34 runs off 15 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. Skipper Kohli was dismissed chasing a wide one from Sam Curran. He was caught by Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the slow ball of Sam Curren. Kohli scored 8 runs. After this, Padikkal lost his wicket in an attempt to pull the ball of Shardul Thakur. Despite this, RCB managed to score 65 for two in the Powerplay but Ravindra Jadeja the bolwer then shone with the ball dismissing Washington Sundar (seven from 11 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (22 from 15 balls) in successive overs. Jadeja wasn’t done yet with RCB, he even ran out Dan Christian for 1 run.

Jadeja put a final nail in the coffin for RCB dismissing their marquee batsmen AB De Villiers for 4. Earlier, Jadeja scored a blitzkrieg 62 with the bat. Smashing purple cap holder Harshal Patel for 37 runs in the final over of the CSK innings. He smashed 5 sixes in the 19th over. This was the first defeat for RCB in the 2021 season of IPL. In the evening session Delhi Capitals were to take on Sun Risers Hyderabad.
