IPL 2021 postponed after corona cases spring up in bio bubble

It has been decided to postpone the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League with immediate effect for the time being. The meeting of BCCI officials ended sometime back. The remaining decision will be made next week. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla has informed that it has been decided to postpone the tournament for this season.

On Tuesday afternoon, Shukla informed ANI about this. He said that the board has taken this strong step in the face of corona cases that are continuously coming up. The decision to postpone this season’s IPL has been taken. The BCCI said, ‘the consensus was reached by the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League and the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the emergency meeting. All of us have decided to postpone this season of IPL 2021 with immediate effect.’

On Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrier were reportedly found to be Corona positive. It was then decided to postpone the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday 3 May. On Tuesday morning, the postponement of the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals was reported.

 

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was reported to be Corona positive before the evening match on Tuesday. At present, the teams of Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are being kept in strict quarantine.
