Atleast 13 injured in Brooklyn attack

An attacker opened fire on people Tuesday morning at the 36th Street subway station in Brooklyn, New York. 13 people were reported to be injured in this attack. The assailant fled after carrying out the attack. A photo from the scene showed people taking care of bloodied passengers lying on the station floor. The city’s fire department has closed the movement here.

Suspect wearing gas mask

According to senior officials, at least five people were shot by a man about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 180 pounds, who was wearing a gas mask and construction site orange clothing. He fled the spot and has not been caught. The attacker shot five people and eight  were injured in the stampede that followed the attack.

The fire department says it responded to a call for smoke at the station and found several victims of gunshots. Images posted on social media showed people lying in a pool of blood on the floor and footage from the Citizen app showed a large number of police officers at the scene. Sources said some of the injured jumped into another train to save their lives.

The fire department has asked New Yorkers to avoid going to the area and notified emergency vehicles to arrive. Power was cut off on the N/R line from 59th Street to Atlantic Avenue and delays have been reported on the B, D, F, N, Q and R lines.
