Wearing of masks ‘personal choice’ as UK set to ease lockdown from July 19
Even as UK has seen rise in cases due to delta variant of the coronavirus. However, from July 19, it has been announced to remove the lockdown restrictions. After this, applying the mask will depend on ‘personal choice’. Housing Minister Robert Jenrick gave this information on Sunday.
This remark of the minister has come amid reports in the UK media on Sunday. Reports indicated that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is about to end the mandatory wearing of masks and announce other steps next week.
Jenrick told the BBC that it appears that ‘we have room to lift restrictions and return to normalcy due to the success of the vaccination programme. Now we have to move towards a different phase. We have to learn to live with the virus, take precautions and live responsibly.’
On Saturday, 24,885 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in Britain and 18 patients died. According to data from the National Health Service, more than 33 million people in the UK have been given the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and more than 85 percent of adults have taken the first dose.
According to the figures so far in Britain, the rate of infection may be fast, but the number of hospitalizations and deaths is very low. In such a situation, it is possible that due to vaccination, even the deadly Delta variant of Corona is not showing the dangerous effect in Britain. British health officials believe that the vaccine is definitely doing its job.
