Covid cases surge in Russia

In Russia the second wave of corona was not even completely stopped that once again the infection has started spreading. Corona is wreaking havoc again in Russia. In the last 24 hours, more than 40 thousand new cases have been reported. Which is the highest number since the start of the pandemic. At the same time, 1159 people have lost their lives. Since last week, an increase in corona cases is being recorded. To get control of Corona, the Putin government has decided to impose an 11-day lockdown.

From Thursday (October 28), an order has been issued to close schools, colleges, malls, restaurants and markets in Russia. Schools as well as gyms, most entertainment venues and stores will be closed for 11 days. During this time restaurants and hotels will remain open for delivery orders. Russian officials hope that keeping people away from offices and public transport during this time will help limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Appeal to people above 60 to stay in homes

The government has given permission to open only medicine shops and shops of essential commodities. Vladimir Putin said that in 85 of Russia’s regions where the situation is particularly dire, work could be halted earlier and holidays could be extended beyond November 7. During that time, most government organizations and private businesses may also have to stop work, barring major infrastructure and a few others. Putin has asked local officials to order that people over the age of 60 who have not received the vaccine stay at home.
