The reason behind the stoppage of the services of ) was due to a flaw in the domain name system of the company. The Domain Name System is also called DNS in short. DNS acts like a phone book for the Internet. It is a tool that organizes the web domain of a website as the address of the website according to the Internet Protocol and IP. Due to a technical flaw in the same DNS of the Facebook company, the services of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp suddenly came to a standstill on the evening of 4 October.
It took about 6-7 hours to fix this technical flaw of DNS. After this, the services of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were resumed at around 3 am IST.
