AB de Villiers announces retirement from all forms of cricket

South African legend AB de Villiers has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. De Villiers had already retired from international cricket but now he will not participate in T20 leagues around the world. De Villiers has given this information by tweeting on social media.

De Villiers tweeted, ‘It has been an amazing journey, but now I am deciding to retire from all forms of cricket. Since I started playing cricket with my elder brothers in my backyard, I have played this game with full joy and fearlessness. Now at the age of 37, that flame no longer burns as bright.’

After this decision, de Villiers will no longer participate in the Indian Premier League 2022. In the 14th season of IPL, he played his 10th season of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, captained by Virat Kohli.

De Villiers is counted among the most successful players in the history of IPL. He has scored 5162 runs in this league in 170 innings of 184 matches at an average of 39.61. During this, he also scored 40 fifties and three centuries.

Apart from this, his international career has also been brilliant. He represented South Africa in 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is. In Test cricket, de Villiers scored 8765 runs for his team at an average of 50.66. In this format, he also scored 22 centuries and 46 fifties, while twice he scored a double century.

In ODIs, de Villiers scored 9577 runs at an average of 53.05. During this, he scored 25 centuries and 53 fifties. Apart from this, he has scored 1672 runs in T20 Internationals and he has scored 50 or more runs 10 times.
