India out of ICC World T20 after New Zealand defeats Afghanistan

In the 40th match of the T20 World Cup 2021, New Zealand faced Afghanistan in Abu-Dhabi. In this match, Afghanistan captain Mohd. Nabi won the toss and decided to bat first. On the basis of Najeeb Zadran’s half-century (73 runs), the team scored 124 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs and New Zealand got a target of 125 runs to win.

After this, in 18.1 overs, New Zealand achieved the target to win for the loss of 2 wickets and won by 8 wickets. With this victory, the Kiwi team secured a place in the semi-finals and broke India’s dream of reaching the semi-finals. New Zealand became the fourth team to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, while Pakistan, Australia and England have already reached the semi-finals.

Chasing a small target, the New Zealand team was given the first blow by Mujeeb in the fourth over. Darryl Mitchell made 17 runs and caught Shahzad behind the wicket. In the powerplay, the team scored 45 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Rashid Khan then bowled Martin Guptill for 28. After this, captain Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 40, while Dowen Conway played an unbeaten 36 to give the team an easy victory and reached the semi-finals. Kiwi team won the match by scoring 125 for 2 wickets in 18.1 overs.
