Atleast 50 feared dead as tornado hits Kentucky

A devastating tornado has wreaked havoc in the southeastern US state of Kentucky. At least 50 people are feared dead due to the storm. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the storm devastated several counties. He said it was the deadliest storm in Kentucky history. “I’m afraid more than 50 people have died… Maybe the number could be between 70 and 100, it’s devastating,” he said.

The governor said there were “massive casualties” when a roof collapsed at a candle factory in the city of Mayfield. The governor said he had declared a state of emergency before midnight. The storm has caused havoc in many states of America. The primary tornado traveled more than 200 miles (320 km) across Kentucky said Beshear in a news conference.

Winds of up to 70 mph were reported in parts of St. Charles and St. Louis counties in Missouri.
