Government to take decision on gap duration between second dose and booster dose

Corona vaccine companies in India (Covishield and Covaxin) are working at a rapid pace on the specifics of the gap duration in the vaccines currently being used. A final decision will be taken on this soon, but at present, it is expected that an interval of 9 to 12 months is required for booster doses.

Permission has been given to give booster dose against Covid-19 in India too. Although the booster dose will first be given to the frontline workers and the critically ill elderly, the difference between those who receive the booster dose is still being discussed. News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that there is likely to be a gap of 9 to 12 months between the second dose of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine and the booster dose. Official sources said on Sunday that the gap between the second dose of the vaccine and the third, which is being called the “precautionary dose” or booster dose, is likely to be in the range of nine to 12 months.

Sources said that the specifics of the gaps in the vaccines currently being used by the anti-corona vaccine companies (Covishield and Covaxin) in India are being worked out, and a final decision on this will be taken soon, but according to the report, After the second dose of corona, it is necessary to keep an interval of 9 to 12 months for the booster dose.

Corona vaccine to children of 15 to 18 years from January 3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Saturday night also announced the corona vaccine for 15-18 year olds. He informed that vaccination campaign will be started for adolescents from January 3. However, PM Modi did not disclose which vaccines will be given to the children. In his address, PM Modi mentioned about the introduction of booster dose from January 10 for frontline workers and sick elderly people above 60 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken this decision in view of the growing pace of Omicron in India. More than 450 cases of Omicron have been reported in the country so far. Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of cases.

First dose administered to 90% of the adult population

Significantly, vaccination campaign is being run continuously in India. More than 61 percent of the country’s adult population has received both doses of the vaccine. While about 90 percent of the adult population has already been given the first dose. Talking about vaccination in the country, more than 141 crore people have been vaccinated.
