Omicron in India: Cases reported in 8 states so far

Special vigilance is being taken in the country regarding the new variant of Corona, Omicron. Despite this, Omicron cases continue to rise. Omicron has reached the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Delhi and six other states. On Sunday, the first cases of this new variant were reported in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Chandigarh, while one more case each was also found in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Including these, a total of 38 cases of Omicron variant have been reported in the country so far.

First case of Omicron in Kochi

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that the first case of Omicron has been reported in Kochi. The infected person had returned to Kochi from the UK on December 6. His Covid report came positive on December 8. The high-risk passengers sitting next to him have been informed. The Covid report of his wife and mother has also come positive. All have been shifted to the isolation ward. Necessary precautions are being taken. At the same time, 3,777 new cases of corona were reported in Kerala on Sunday while 34 people died.

First case in Andhra Pradesh

Omicron has been confirmed in a foreign traveler who arrived from Ireland in Andhra Pradesh. This is the first case of Omicron in the state. The 34-year-old man had earlier reached Mumbai, whose infection was not confirmed in the Covid-19 test. Later on November 27, he got permission to go to Visakhapatnam. RT-PCR test confirmed his infection when he was tested the second time in Vizag.
