Corona restrictions eased in England as Corona threat subsides

In Britain, all restrictions related to the corona pandemic have been removed. The British government says the vaccine booster rollout has reduced disease severity and hospitalizations. From Thursday, it will not be legally mandatory to wear a face mask anywhere in England. Also, the need of Covid pass for entry to nightclubs and other large places has been ended.

The government last week ended the guideline for people to work from home. Along with this, the compulsion of face covering in classes was also canceled. In the UK, ‘Plan B’ was implemented in early December amid Omicron’s growing infection. Under this, the health service was expedited to get people to get booster shots.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid said that the government took effective steps like vaccine rollout, testing and antiviral treatment. It developed a strong defense for the virus in Europe, paving the way for normalcy. He said that as we are learning to live with covid, we should know that this virus is not going away.

81% of people got a booster shot

Health officials said that the infection of corona in the country has definitely decreased, but Omicron can still create trouble, especially for children and the elderly. Officials said about 84 percent of people over the age of 12 in the UK have received a second dose of the vaccine. Also, 81 percent of those who are eligible have had a booster shot.

Daily cases are less than 1 lakh

The number of people hospitalized and admitted to the ICU is stable or has fallen. Around this new year, more than 2 lakh new cases were being received in a day, whose number has come down to less than 1 lakh these days. London Mayor Sadiq Khan said that face coverings will still be mandatory in the capital’s buses and metro trains. This is being done with caution.
