No respite from the cold weather soon forecasts metrological department

The minimum temperature is likely to drop by three to five degrees Celsius over Northwest and Central India during the next five days. Due to this, cold conditions will prevail over Delhi and cold wave is likely to prevail over various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The Meteorological Department said on Monday that during the next two to three days, conditions from normal to extreme cold are expected in different parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. While cold wave is very likely to prevail over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat during the next five days.

According to the department, during the next two to three days, dense to very dense fog is very likely to occur in different parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Rain likely in seven states

The January rains in Delhi have broken the record. 8.8 cm of rain fell on Sunday, the highest in 122 years. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. It will be cloudy in some areas. However, the weather is likely to clear after that.
