Domestic electricity usage to be billed as per new formula in Uttarakhand

Domestic electricity bills will now come on a daily basis. Now monthly billing will be done in 25 to 35 days and bi-monthly billing in 55 to 65 days. The new domestic billing formula will reduce energy and fixed charges by up to eight per cent for many consumers. With the new formula bringing uniformity in domestic billing, consumers will get rid of irregularities in billing.

UPCL Chief Engineer (Commercial) GS Kunwar has issued orders for billing on daily basis from February. Since the time of undivided Uttar Pradesh, due to the flawed formula of domestic billing, many times consumers consuming less units had to pay higher prices than consumers consuming more units.

Rising electricity prices are a matter of concern for people troubled by inflation. This time in the elections, almost every party made the rising electricity prices an issue, many parties also promised to provide electricity for free. In the midst of all this, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited ie UPCL has announced a big relief to the consumers. UPCL is going to revise the electricity bill formula.

This will give a big relief to the electricity consumers, as the electricity bills will be less than before.
