India-West Indies ODI series: Hosts clean sweep visitors 3-0

Rohit Sharma created history in his very first ODI series as a full-time ODI captain. Rohit Sharma became the first Indian captain under whose captaincy Team India has made a clean sweep of West Indies in an ODI series. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India won all the three matches of the three-match ODI series and won the series 3–0.

Batting first, India scored 265 runs in 50 overs on the back of half-centuries from Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. West Indies had to score 266 runs to win, but the team was bowled out for 169 runs in 37.1 overs and lost by 96 runs.

After winning the third ODI, India cleaned up West Indies in the three-match ODI series. Prasidh Krishna got the Player of the Series title for his brilliant bowling, while Shreyas Iyer, who scored 80 runs in the third ODI, was adjudged the Player of the Match.

When India came out to bat, Rohit Sharma had already expressed his intentions, but he was dismissed for 13 runs in the fourth over itself. After two balls, Virat Kohli was also out for a duck. Both were dismissed by Alzarri Joseph. Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed for 10 by Odeon Smith, giving Team India the third blow. Rishabh Pant played an innings of 56 runs and he was caught by Hayden Walsh. There was a 110-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Pant and Iyer.

Rohit Sharma created history

Rohit Sharma created history by winning the three-match ODI series against West Indies and did a feat which no Indian captain had done before him. This three-match ODI series will always be remembered for the reason that India blanked the West Indies for the first time in this. All the matches of this ODI series were played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The performance of the Indian team in these three matches was very good and the visiting team had no answers. In the first match of this ODI series, India won by 6 wickets, while in the second match by 44 runs and in the third match by 96 runs.
