IPL auction 2022: 10 teams bid over Rs 550 crores for players

The mega auction of IPL 2022, which lasted for two days, is now over. 204 players were auctioned in two days. On Saturday, the most expensive left-handed wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan was sold on the first day, he went to Mumbai for 15.25 crores. Liam Livingston was the most expensive in the auction on the second day. He was added to Punjab Kings for 11.50 crores. In the second day’s auction, he was the only player whose bid went above 10 crores.

In this auction, which lasted for two days, a lot of money was showered on the uncapped players too. All-rounders Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia were bought for 9 crores each. At the same time, Mumbai Indians, bid on pacer Jofra Archer who will not play in IPL due to injury this year.

Mumbai also added Singapore-born Australian power hitter Tim David to their team. They spent 8.25 crores on this player. In the auction held on the first day of the auction, 10 franchises had an amount of 563.50 crores and 600 players were to be bid.

Bad day for veteran players

The second day of the auction did not go well for many veteran players. Aaron Finch, who won Australia the T20 World Cup, England’s ODI and T20 team captain Eion Morgan, both found no buyer and remained unsold. Cheteshwar Pujara also could not find any buyer. ‘Mr. IPL’ Suresh Raina too couldn’t find a team this year.

Ishan Kishan became the most expensive player

Wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan got the highest bid on the first day of the auction. He was bought by Mumbai Indians for 15.25 crores. He has become the most expensive player of IPL season-15 so far. In the last season, Ishaan’s salary was 6.2 crores and he was associated with the team of Mumbai. This time he has got about two and a half times more amount than last time.
