Russia-Ukraine crisis: Indian Embassy issues advisory to Indian citizens in Ukraine

In view of the ongoing tension in Russia and Ukraine, the Indian Embassy has issued an advisory to its citizens. The embassy in Kiev has told Indians that they can return to the country on a temporary basis.

The embassy has said that commercial flights and charter flights may be available to come to India.

Tension in Ukraine is increasing continuously and the security situation is becoming more and more serious. About 20 thousand Indians are present in Ukraine, including many students. The Government of India is taking continuous steps to ensure the safety of its citizens and is in touch with the Indian Embassy in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Kiev has issued a new advisory for students and Indian citizens. In this, everyone has been advised to leave Ukraine temporarily.

The embassy said in its advisory, “In view of the increasing tension and instability in Ukraine, all Indian nationals, who do not need to stay and all students are advised to leave Ukraine temporarily. Available commercial flights and charter flights can be availed for orderly and timely departure.”

Air India to operate flights for evacuation

Air India said on Friday that it will operate three flights between India and Ukraine on February 22, 24 and 26. The threat of a Russian attack on Ukraine continues to grow. The US has also asked its citizens and embassy officials to leave Ukraine. Not only this, America is now operating its embassy from the city of Lviv in western Ukraine instead of Kiev. On Saturday, Germany also appealed to its citizens to leave Ukraine “immediately”.
