MP defeat 41 time champions Mumbai in Ranji trophy final

Madhya Pradesh team won the title of Ranji Trophy 2021-22 by defeating Mumbai in the final match. Madhya Pradesh team has won this tournament for the first time. Madhya Pradesh beat Mumbai by six wickets in the final match played at M Chinnaswamy, Bengaluru. Batting first after winning the toss, Mumbai scored 374 runs in the first innings. In reply, Madhya Pradesh scored a huge score of 536 runs. In the second innings, Mumbai’s team scored 269 runs. Madhya Pradesh had a target of 108 runs in the fourth innings of the match. Madhya Pradesh achieved this by losing four wickets. With this, Madhya Pradesh became the 20th team to win the Ranji Trophy.

Yash Dubey and Shubham Sharma and Rajat Patidar scored centuries for Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, Sarfaraz Khan scored a century for Mumbai. In the bowling, Gaurav Kumar of Madhya Pradesh took six and Kumar Karthikeya took five wickets. At the same time, Shams Mulani of Mumbai took the maximum eight wickets.

New teams are emerging in Ranji in the last few years. Since 2014-15, six different teams have won the title in eight seasons. Karnataka in 2014-15, Mumbai in 2015-16, Gujarat in 2016-17, Vidarbha in 2017-18 and 2018-19, Saurashtra in 2019-20 and Madhya Pradesh in 2021-22 have become champions. The tournament was canceled in 2020-21 due to Corona.
