Commonwealth Games 2022: Indian wrestlers shine on Day 8

The 8th day of the Commonwealth Games was entirely in the name of Indian wrestlers. Indian wrestlers won 6 medals including 3 gold and took India to number 5 in the medal tally. For India, Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia and Sakshi Malik won gold while Anshu Malik won silver and Mohit Grewal and Divya Kakran won bronze. With this, India’s number of total medals in the medal tally has gone up to 26, which includes 9 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals.

  • Australia beat India in penalty shootout in hockey semi-final match

India had 6 medals on the 8th day of the Commonwealth Games. India won all the 6 medals in wrestling which includes 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. Wrestling has proved to be the second most successful sport for India in this edition after weightlifting. India won 10 medals in weightlifting and on the first day of wrestling, India has won 6 medals while the wrestling events are not over yet.
