Ankita Bhandari murder case: SDRF recovers body; SIT to investigate
The news of Ankita Bhandari’s murder in Rishikesh has come as a shock for everyone in Devbhoomi. Uttarakhand SDRF has recovered Ankita’s body from Cheela Canal in Rishikesh on Saturday morning. SDRF spokesperson has confirmed that Ankita Bhandari’s body has been recovered from Cheela Canal. At the same time, the SIT will now investigate the matter.
Rishikesh Additional Superintendent of Police Shekhar Suyal said ‘on Saturday morning that the brother and father of the deceased were with me and they have identified the body. The body found in the barrage is that of Ankita Bhandari.’ The SDRF officer said that the search operation was started at 7 am. We found the body of a woman here which was retrieved. Her family had come here for identification. It has been told by the family that it is the body of Ankita Bhandari. The body has been taken to AIIMS Rishikesh.

Formation of SIT in the case
In this case, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami tweeted ‘My heart is deeply pained by this heart breaking incident. In order to get the harshest punishment to the culprits, a SIT under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police P. Renuka Devi has also been ordered for an in-depth investigation of this serious matter.’
Resort bulldozed late night
On the orders of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a bulldozer conducted a demolition drive at the resort of Pulkit, accused of killing Ankita Bhandari, at midnight. DGP Ashok Kumar said that after the order of the CM, the Pauri administration and police have started action. At midnight itself, the police team started demolishing the resort of the accused.
