Legends Cricket League 2022: Sehwag, Gambhir, Irfan to be in action from Sep 16
Legends League Cricket (LLC) is going to start from 16 September. In this, many legendary players like Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir will be seen playing. The captains of four teams of this league are being decided. Legendary India spinner Harbhajan Singh will lead the Bhilwara Kings team, while former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan will captain the Manipal Group-owned Manipal Tigers.
Harbhajan is the first India off-spinner to take 400 wickets and has performed exceptionally well during his time. He represented India in 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20Is. Harbhajan said, “Playing with all the great players over the years, I have seen and known the nuances of the game, which has made me a better cricketer. As a cricketer, I did not get a chance to captain the team, but it is something, which I am really excited about. I love leading the team. I hope to live up to the responsibility and trust shown in me.”
“You need to enjoy what you are doing and what matters is to give 100 per cent in that effort. It is a great opportunity, but I am sure we will do well as a team,” Pathan said. Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have been named captains of the other two franchises in the four-team LLC.
Virender Sehwag will take over the command of Gujarat Giants. While Gautam Gambhir will be seen leading India Capitals. Virender Sehwag has said on his return to the cricket field as captain, ‘I am excited to be back on the cricket field again. Being part of a professional organization like Adani Group and Gujarat Giants is the perfect way to start a new innings of cricket. I personally have always believed in playing cricket fearlessly and I will carry forward the same style here as well. ,
India Capitals captain Gambhir said, “I have always believed that cricket is a ‘team game’ and a captain is only as good as a good team. As I lead India Capitals, I will emphasize on building a team that is full of enthusiasm. ,
This year 16 matches will be played in LLC. It will be played for the first time in India and will be hosted in six cities. The league will begin on September 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, followed by Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur. The venue for the playoffs and final is yet to be decided.
